Grandparent's Day

Brooke's school hosted a grandparents day on Friday. I love that my mom is close enough to come to things like this. Brooke was so excited to have Grammy come to her school. Here are a few pictures from their day and a picture of Annabelle with me that day. Her little facial expressions are so sweet!

1st Aggie Home Game

We took our first trip of 2013 to College Station for the Texas A&M home game against rice. It was fun to have my mom along for the trip. This was her first time to visit college station. It was a HOT hot game day. Tickets went down to $18 right before the game started. I decided to use my $18 and buy an A&M visor. We enjoyed the air conditioned student store while Keith and his dad sweated it out in the stadium. The game started out a little shaky; but A&M dominated after the half. After the game; all the MCSpaddens and tailgaiting neighbors had a big meal to celebrate. Brooke met a few little girls from other tailgates and the played for hours. Annabelle was having a rough time with her teeth so she spent most of the day in the camper. After dinner we dropped my mom off at a friend's house. She had met Jane in AZ at church and coincidentally, she now lives in college station. The rest of us go to stay at a hotel for the night. My co-worker had a room there and let us use it for the weekend. It was the first time the girls had slept together in their own room. IT was a bit of a struggle. Annabelle took forever to go to sleep and Brooke came in our room at 4:30 AM. I definitely know they are not ready to share a room. We all went to A&M Church of Christ for Sunday morning service. They have a great kids program! We enjoyed our weekend with Mark and Twyla in College Station. Let's hope that all the home games end in a win this year!! Gig em Aggies!!

all about Brooke

Brooke's teacher sent home a poster assignment called All About Me. The students were supposed to personalize the poster with stickers, pictures and words that told about them. The posters are now hanging all over her classroom. She was very proud of her completed poster. I think it is so cute that she wants to be a chef!

Allergy Test

I had my first allergy test ever last week. The nurse gave me 38 injections with trees, grasses, mold and pet types. I was most allergic to cats; followed by Pecan trees and Cedar trees. The doctor thought I had an issue with my sinuses too so he had me get a CT scan. I'm hoping they can get my allergies figured out before Cedar Season starts again.

Trip to Dale's with Small Group from Church

some of the families at our small group frequent a small country honky tonk called Dale's. We had a blast the first time we went. A big group from church met up on Saturday night and we enjoyed another great night out. Brooke loves the live music and giant water jug. She spends most of the night filling up water cups for thirsty patrons. Annabelle loved the big speakers. She kept walking right over to the speakers and the stage. The kids had a great time dancing, playing in the dirt and hanging out with all the church kids.

Last Swim Lesson and End of Summer Haircuts

Brooke finished her swim lessons at the end of August. For the last session she ended up in a class all by herself. There were not any other students that registered for her time slot. I was thrilled that she had 8 private lessons with her teacher Ms. Megan. By the end of the class she could swim freestyle across the pool and do a decent breaststroke. Her swimming greatly improved over this summer. We wanted to bring Ms. Megan a special treat so we made a trip to Gigi's cupcakes. I let the girls each pick out their own cupcake too. Brooke picked the cherry coke cupcake that had a real straw on top. After the last swim lesson Grammy and I took both of the girls to get a haircut. I had to be very careful with Brooke's hair this summer. It had started to turn a little bit green from all the chlorine. We used a special shampoo on her hair after swim class. I was happy to get her hair trimmed up and evened out. She looks so cute! Annabelle didn't really need a haircut, but she recently started rubbing food in her hair at each meal. It was such a mess trying to get spaghetti, syrup, yogurt, etc out of her hair. I decided to get it cut really short to help with the food smearing issue. She did really well to sit still and get a haircut. It is very short, but I think she is still a cutie!

VBS with Grams and Poppa

Brooke got to spend 3 nights in Dallas with Grams and Poppa for VBS. Her cousin Claire also came to stay for VBS. The girls had a great time playing together. I was shocked that they made it so late each night. VBS went from 6:30-9:30 each night. It probably helped that they gave all the kids a sugary snack right at the end. Twyla took the girls to the dollar store and let them pick out a few prizes. Brooke picked these mermaid dolls. I had never seen her play with dolls and sit quietly. That must be Claire influence. She is all about the princesses and dolls.
